Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
62 years
What is your primary product or service?
Christian faith proclaimed in worship and through service to our community and world.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Church of the Brethren is a small denomination influenced by anabaptism and pietism. The first adult baptism (by immersion) was held in 1708 in Germany. Within 20 years all had migrated to Pennsylvania due to persecution by protestant leaders in Germany. Although today, most COB members would claim they are protestant, the origins of the denomination transcend the protestant reformation to ask the church for greater accountability to the world.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Our primary focus is service to neighbor and world through loving kindness and hands-on service. We contribute through offerings to places we can not be in person while we go in person to work at AFAC, Disaster Relief and often bring service opportunities into our building so people of all ages can help.
Our Christian education opportunities offer a once/month intergenerational experience. There are some Sunday classes using the old-style classroom experience most other Sundays. Worship is only offered once a week at 11 a.m. Sunday except for special community worship events.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We only have one location but the Arlington COB partners with Bethel United Church of Christ and Arlington Forest United Methodist Church for seasonal worship opportunities, summer Bible Experience (children and adults), and many service projects.

Mark 12:30-31 Jesus answered, ". . .you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."
